The Texas Rangers have non-tendered Adolis Garcia, Jonah Heim, Josh Sborz and Jacob Webb, the team announced today, making each of the four free agents. In addition, the team announced that it had re-signed outfielder Sam Haggerty to a one year deal.
Nothing exactly shocking in this news. When the arbitration projections came out, we said that Garcia, Heim and Sborz seemed to be likely non-tendered. Of late I was leaning more towards the Rangers hanging on to Heim, given the lack of catchers out there available who can start 90-100 games a year, but the Rangers have instead decided to move on.
Webb is somewhat surprising — the Rangers signed him last offseason after he had been non-tendered by the Baltimore Orioles, and his arbitration number of $2 million seemed reasonable after a decen
