One of my favorite parts about Idaho Business Review’s annual Excellence in Finance program is getting to know people who are absolutely passionate about the field of finance.

Having a love-hate relationship with numbers, I’m fascinated by those who can look at a balance sheet and make perfect sense of it. They have a keen eye for what works, what doesn’t and how to help others do the same.

We decided to introduce an extra honoree to this year’s Excellence in Finance program, which is that of Lifetime Achievement. It matches what we do with the companion Leaders in Law program. You’ll notice that Joel Hickman is the inaugural honoree this year, and having interviewed him, I can say he is completely deserving of the award.
