The Xhekaj brothers may yet suit up for a regular-season NHL game together.
The Montreal Canadiens recalled Floridan Xhekaj, brother of defenceman Arber, from the Laval Rocket on Friday, the team announced.
Xhekaj, 21, has two goals and two assists in 16 games for the Rocket this season, alongside 44 PIMs.
The forward was selected by the Canadiens 101st overall at the 2023 NHL Draft and has spent parts of the past three seasons with AHL Laval.
In a corresponding move, the Canadiens sent winger Joshua Roy to the Rocket.
Roy, 22, skated in three games for Montreal this season, averaging 9:47 on ice. He last played in Thursday’s loss to the Washington Capitals.
