The Boston Red Sox are waving goodbye to a pair of veterans — at least for the time being.
Red Sox general manager Craig Breslow chose not to tender contracts to pitcher Josh Winckowski or infielder Nathaniel Lowe on Friday, sending both to free agency once the deadline passed at 5 p.m. ET.
Winckowski, 27, compiled a 4.20 ERA across 121 total appearances with the club over the last four seasons — though he missed the majority of this past campaign with a right elbow flexor strain.
Lowe, 30, was a late-season addition by the club and slashed .280/.370/.420 across 34 total games — though it was a formality that he would be non-tendered due to the fact that he was projected to earn $13.5 million in 2026.
