UPDATE 11/21/25:
Yavapai County authorities say they’ve recovered the body of a driver who was swept away in a flash flood in Cordes Lakes earlier this week. On Thursday crews found 74-year-old David Otero six miles downstream along Big Bug Creek near its intersection with the Agua Fria River. Officials say he attempted to drive through fast-moving floodwaters in Cordes Lakes Tuesday. A sheriff’s deputy was able to pull a bystander to safety after they tried to help the driver, but Otero was swept away along with the car, which was found two miles away. About 80 volunteers were involved in the search over three days.
