The dates may have changed, but Ann Arbor Pioneer’s swimming dominance never wavered.
Pioneer claimed its sixth consecutive Division 1 girls swimming state championship Friday at Oakland University, sweeping the relays and adding four individual titles.
Pioneer finished with 404 points, followed by Jenison with 249 and Northville with 193 in the state meet, which was moved to Friday from Saturday because of a maintenance conflict at Oakland.
Individually, West Bloomfield senior Elizabeth Eichbrecht stole the show, winning her fourth consecutive state titles in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle and setting Michigan high school and pool records in both events.
Eichbrecht won the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 45.98 seconds but set the records in her preliminary swim in 1:45.05. S
