GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — For almost a year, the Olson family in Muskegon has been waiting on the finishing touches for their three-panel patio door.
Ron Olson ordered a door from Lowe’s in late 2024. He paid for the door and installation service, scheduled for March 2025.
Lowe’s hired a third-party company to do the installation. When its employees started unboxing the parts, Olson said he was hit with some bad news.
“Next thing you know, they’re coming in the house, saying, 'This part for the door is wrong, it’s the wrong color, it’s not even for this door,'” said Olson.
That part is described by Olson as a cosmetic trim piece from Pella Windows. Since then, Olson said he has gotten the wrong part multiple times after visiting Lowe’s to get replacements.
