Canadians who purchased or consumed recalled plant-based milk linked to a listeria outbreak have reached a $6.5-million settlement with Danone Canada, Wal-Mart Canada Corp., and Intact Insurance Company.
The settlement is connected to a listeria outbreak that sparked a national recall of several Silk and Great Value plant-based milk products in July 2024.
According to the Public Health Agency of Canada , 20 illnesses were reported and three people died in the outbreak.
The class action was authorized by the Superior Court of Quebec on Nov. 17, subject to a settlement approval hearing on Jan. 26, 2026.
The lawyer representing the class, Joey Zukran, said it’s too early to determine how many people will participate, but compensation will be distributed based on the severity of illness
