COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a man wanted on active violent warrants after a multi-county pursuit.

On Friday morning, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted a traffic stop on 43-year-old Christopher James Lynch, who was wanted on active violent warrants.

Lynch fled after deputies after the attempted traffic stop, starting a chase that began in Dorchester County and continued into Orangeburg and Clarendon counties.

Deputies say the chase ended on I-95 near mile marker 104 when Lynch collided with an 18-wheeler that was attempting to move out of the path of the pursuit.

Immediately after the crash, Lynch left his vehicle and jumped from the bridge into Lake Marion in an effort to evade law enforcement.
