Durhamville, N.Y. — The former treasurer of the Durhamville Fire Department was sentenced Friday to one to three years in state prison for stealing $92,000 from the volunteer department over seven years, officials said.

Kimberly Simchik, 62, of Durhamville, was also ordered to pay $92,000 in restitution, according to a news release from the state Comptroller’s Office and the State Police.

Investigators said Simchik used the department’s debit card and checks for personal expenses, including plane tickets, spa and nail salon visits, a movie channel subscription and payments at local casinos.

She also deposited checks meant for the department into her personal bank account, officials said.
