RIO RANCHO, N.M. —
On Friday morning, Nov. 20, 2025, a water main erupted on Western Hills Drive in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. KOAT spoke with homeowner Phillip Sedillo, whose home became a "total loss" during the water main break. He and his wife owned their home for 22 years.

Sedillo told KOAT his wife, who is wheelchair bound, made it to safety before it could have taken a turn for the worse. He recounts the sudden and destructive flooding that ravaged their home. However, he still remains in good spirits.

"I was getting ready to take a shower, and I just heard this noise. It was like, 'Boom!' And it wouldn't stop, just excessive. I couldn't — even the water was coming out so heavy that I couldn't even get out the door.
