LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Staff and students at the Stables Alternative School Program are asking Fayette County Public Schools not to cut the facilities contract it has with the nonprofit Central Kentucky Riding for Hope located inside the Kentucky Horse Park.

The facility assessment committee within the school system is searching for ways to save money for the school system’s budget woes. Those at the Stables say the smaller therapeutic environment works for them and cutting the contract means cutting the whole program.

Students fear losing therapeutic environment

Katherine Sims has a message for FCPS.

“Leave us alone because I understand we are a very small school but we are this way for a reason,” Sims said.
