MACON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Edmund Burke’s third straight trip to the GIAA title game ended differently than the previous two visits.

The Spartans played catch-up against Robert Toombs throughout the night and finished as Class A runner-ups with a 23-12 loss.

Edmund Burke and Robert Toombs faced off for the fourth time in the last two seasons. In the previous three meetings, the Crusaders never had a winning formula for coach Andy Woodard’s Spartans.

All of that changed in their state title rematch.

Robert Toombs was in command the whole game, capitalising on the Spartans’ turnovers.
