Industry bodies and consulting firms have welcomed the implementation of four labour codes in the country, calling the move a landmark that will boost formal job creation, expand the social security net and streamline compliance. The Code on Wages, 2019, the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, the Code on Social Security, 2020 and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 came into effect yesterday, aimed at simplifying and streamlining the existing, decades-old labour laws in the country.
