The New York Liberty are hiring Golden State Warriors assistant Chris DeMarco as their new head coach, according to ESPN . DeMarco will remain on the bench for the Warriors for the time being, and it has not yet been determined when he will make the switch to working solely with the Liberty.
DeMarco, who has been with the Warriors since 2012, helped the franchise win four NBA titles and is regarded as a defensive specialist. He has also served as the head coach for the Bahamas men's national basketball team since 2019. Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu reached out to Warriors star Steph Curry during this process to get his thoughts on DeMarco, per ESPN .
