RUSK, Texas (KLTV) - The Woodville Eagles and the Edgewood Bulldogs squared off at Eagle Stadium in Rusk Friday night in the area round of the playoffs.
Edgewood got the ball to begin the game and drove 73 yards in nine plays and scored on a 3-yard rushing touchdown by Lucas Pippin to put the Bulldogs ahead 7-0. The lead was short lived however, as Woodville drove 76 yards in eight plays and scored on a 24-yard passing touchdown from quarterback Luke Babin to Gage Tolar to tie the game at 7. On the Bulldogs’ next possession, they went 86 yards in just five plays. Quarterback Trevor Golightly and Jathen Johnson hooked up for a 73-yard touchdown strike to put Edgewood ahead 14-7 with 3:53 left in the first quarter. The Eagles would answer right back.
