Rishabh Pant has entered his name in the history books on Saturday (November 22) by becoming the second designated wicketkeeper-batter in 93 years to captain India in Test cricket. The ongoing second Test match between India and South Africa, which kicked off at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday, is Pant’s first Test as captain of Team India. He is leading the side in the absence of Shubman Gill. Gill is out of the second Test due to a neck injury that he suffered on Day 2 of the first India-South Africa Test in Kolkata last week.
In the past 93 years, since India played its first Test in 1932, a total of 38 players have captained India, but Pant is only the second designated wicketkeepe
