Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is praising what he calls a “remarkable comeback” for the state’s honey industry after years of challenges.

Miller credits a coordinated effort between pesticide regulators, the Texas Department of Agriculture and partners across the agricultural community for helping create better conditions for bees to thrive.

New data from Texas A&M AgriLife shows Texas beekeepers produced more than 4 million pounds of honey this season — worth nearly $9 million at current market prices. That averages about $2.24 per pound, marking some of the strongest statewide output in years.
