DANVERS – Shawsheen Tech (11-0) is heading back to the Division 6 state title after a 22-14 overtime win against North Reading (9-2).
The story of the game was Shawsheen’s senior captain, running back/linebacker Jake Banda. He finished with 266 yards on 29 carries and three touchdowns. To top it off, he intercepted a North Reading pass on their first play of their overtime possession to clinch the win and send his team back to Gillette Stadium as they look to repeat as state champions.
“It’s great to get back, but all props to my O and D line, they led us in this game and this season,” Banda said. “Nothing’s on me, it’s all on them. We work hard, lift hard, condition hard, and it’s all paid off.”
