PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - For the second year in a row, Hyster-Yale has announced it is laying off part of its workforce.

This year’s restructuring plan will reduce the company’s global workforce by around 575 employees, spread across global manufacturing and staff functions.

That includes what one employee says is a reduction of over 100 employees in Pitt County.

The company said the cuts are needed to lower its break-even point and align with current low industry volumes, particularly in the industrial market. It added that the reductions will better position it to return to profitability when volumes recover, which it expects in mid-2026.

Last November, the company announced a reduction of 97 employees at the Pitt County location. Those cuts took place back in January.
