BLAIRSVILLE, Pa. — Westinghouse had waited a year for an opportunity to wash away the bitter taste of the 41-point beatdown it took against Bishop Guilfoyle in the state playoffs.
Given a second chance against the Marauders, though, the Bulldogs couldn’t get out of their own way to pull off the upset of the reigning state champions.
Instead, senior running back Jacob Kissell scored a 4-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the game and Carter Boland kicked what turned out to the be critical extra point as District 6 champion Bishop Guilfoyle (11-2) held on for a 7-6 victory against City League champion Westinghouse (7-5) in the PIAA Class 1A quarterfinals at River Valley High School.
“This was a really good football team and it took everything we had to get a win,” Bishop Guilfoyle coa
