Chennai: Heavy rainfall is likely to persist over south Tamil Nadu and the delta districts until November 25, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC). Officials said that a developing weather system over the Bay of Bengal—expected to intensify early next week—will determine the State’s rainfall trend for the remainder of November.
The RMC noted that a low-pressure area is expected to form over the Southeast Bay of Bengal on Saturday, which may further intensify into a depression over the central south Bay of Bengal by November 24. The system may strengthen further by November 26, and the possibility of its development into a cyclonic storm is under close watch.
