R&B artist Akon was arrested in early November after police discovered his disabled Tesla Cybertruck on a busy street in Chamblee, Georgia, northeast of Atlanta.
Chamblee police arrested Akon after a Flock camera alert linked his Cybertruck to an outstanding bench warrant.
The arrest happened when police ran his license plate through an automated license plate recognition system, revealing a suspended driver’s license. The suspension resulted from Akon’s failure to appear at a court hearing in January 2023.
Authorities booked the singer into DeKalb County jail before transferring him to Roswell Police Department. He posted bail and was released the same evening.
Police also reportedly seized what they described as an “illegal vape” during the incident.
