EXETER TOWNSHIP — Trinity made three attempts to tie Neumann-Goretti with a two-point conversion following a touchdown with 1:29 left in regulation of Friday’s PIAA Class 3A football quarterfinal contest.
Penalties on each side nullified the first two attempts and a third pass try landed incomplete. Everything pointed at the Shamrocks eventually dropping a tough-to-swallow two-point decision.
But the District 3 Class 3A champions weren’t ready to pack away the footballs and pads just yet.
Marcus Yeager fell on the ensuing onside kick attempt at the Saints 45 and his key 24-yard catch on an ensuing fake third down spike play put the ball on the 1-yard line as the final seconds winked away.
