A 13-year-old Class 8 student died on Friday morning after jumping from the third floor of her school building in Maharashtras Jalna, triggering shock across the city and a police inquiry into what led to the fall, officials said.

The incident took place around 7.30 am at a well-known school in the city. According to officers, the girl had arrived for classes as usual when she jumped from the third floor of the school building. The school immediately alerted her father, who rushed to the campus. She was taken first to a private hospital and then shifted to the district civil hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
