MIDDLETOWN – Middletown was dominant in its regular-season football finale against crosstown rival Appoquinimink Nov. 7.

The Cavaliers knew the rematch would be more of a chore.

It most certainly was, but Middletown did the necessary work to prevail 28-20 in the DIAA Class 3A semifinal to the accompaniment of ringing cowbells at Cavalier Stadium.
