A super-fit outdoor instructor who started to suffer with hip and back pain after a weekend of hiking, surfing and climbing was told by doctors to go home and 'stop being dramatic' - then had to be rushed into hospital with an 'amost deadly' illness. Skye Owen felt pain after an active weekend, and when the pain began to travel up her lower back days later, she booked a GP appointment.
She says she was told it was sciatica and sent home to rest. When she deteriorated hours later her worried parents called 111 and an out-of-hours doctor, and says she was again told it was the common ailment.
