Blackhawks' 1st-round pick Mason West just led his high school football team to a state title

Sports really can be the best sometimes.

In June, the Chicago Blackhawks drafted Mason West in the first round of the NHL Draft.

But they let West finish out his high school football career this fall. And he didn't disappoint.

Playing for Edina High School in Minnesota, West and the Hornets pulled out a 42-35 win. It was their first state championship since 1978.

West completed 7-of-7 passes as the QB for 78 yards and two touchdowns.

Chase Bjoorgard, who is the Edina hockey team's goalie, ran for 320 yards and has six total touchdowns.
