Brown University alerted students of a reported active shooter on campus on Saturday. "There's an active shooter near Barus & Holley Engineering," the school said in an emergency alert issued about 4:20 p.m. "Lock doors, silence phones and stay hidden until further notice," the notice said. An updated alert sent at about 4:50 p.m. said one suspect was in custody but did not give further details or lift the lockdown. University police and police with the city of Providence were on the scene, the university said. It was not immediately known if there are victims or their conditions. This is a developing story.
