Mason West finished his high school career a football champion.
West, who was a 2025 first-round pick by the Chicago Blackhawks, led the Edina Hornets to their first Minnesota state championship since 1978 with a 42-35 win.
As the starting quarterback, the 18-year-old dual-sport athlete was 7-of-7 for 78 yards and two touchdowns while Chase Bjoorgard, the school hockey team’s starting goalie, totalled 320 yards and six scores.
According to 247Sports, West is rated as a three-star and the 144th-best QB in the nation.
West was selected 29th overall by the Blackhawks after dominating at Edina. During the 2024-25 season, he posted 29 goals and 22 assists in 31 games.
The forward also played 10 games for the Fargo Force of the USHL, notching a goal and eight assists.
