A retired school principal in Himachal Pradesh learnt about his son’s death in the Dubai Airshow Tejas crash while browsing YouTube to watch his performance. Wing Commander Namansh Syal of the Indian Air Force died on Friday when the indigenous HAL Tejas fighter jet he was flying went down during an aerobatic display at the Al Maktoum International Airport.

The tragic accident occurred around 2.15 pm local time during a low-level manoeuvre on the final day of the major aviation event. The IAF later confirmed the 37-year-old pilot’s death as investigations were launched into what caused the aircraft to plunge suddenly before bursting into flames.
