Bengaluru: In a major breakthrough, Bengaluru Police has arrested a police constable from the Govindarajanagar police station, a former CMS employee and the in-charge of the cash refill vehicle in connection to the Rs 7.1crore daylight ATM cash-van heist, police said on Saturday. Cops have also recovered approximately Rs 5.7 crore.
What happened: On Wednesday afternoon near the Ashoka Pillar in Jayanagar, a group of men allegedly posing as Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Income Tax (IT) officials stopped a cash-in-transit van operated by CMS Logistics, which was carrying Rs 7.11 crore. ADVERTISEMENT
According to the FIR, the robbers claimed they needed to “verify documents” for the large cash load, then forced the crew — including the driver and guards — into their cars.
