Travis Head came out to open the innings for Australia in the 205-run chase against England at Optus Stadium in Perth, and the left-hander needed just 69 balls on Saturday, November 22, to complete his century. The century in 69 balls by Head is the second-fastest century in Ashes history by any batter, and it also helped him break Joe Darling’s 127-year-old record of scoring the fastest century by an opener in the fourth innings of a Test match played between Australia and England .

In 1898, Joe Darling of Australia opened the innings for the Baggy Greens in the 275-run chase at Sydney Cricket Ground and scored a century in 85 balls.
