INDIANAPOLIS — You can grab a drink with friends in Broad Ripple village, or rock out to a local band in Fountain Square, but how does the idea of making the Little Flower neighborhood on the east side the new hangout spot sound?

That's what neighborhood leaders are trying to do, as the city of Indianapolis recently awarded a $30,000 grant to the neighborhood near 10th Street from Sherman Drive to Leland Avenue.

Jakob Morales, a board member of the Little Flower Neighborhood Association, says the area is in need of safer and more aesthetically pleasing streets to transform it into a walkable, enjoyable cultural district. He hopes the grant will do just that, at least on a smaller level. The enhancements include art, events and tactical urbanism such as planters, benches and signage.
