A growing number of organizations — including one that represents some of Michigan's largest businesses — are seeking to stop state regulators from approving a DTE Energy contract with a massive data center project without public scrutiny .

The Detroit-based utility has asked the Michigan Public Service Commission to expedite its agreement to provide power for a planned data center in Saline Township, with construction for the 550,000-square-foot campus slated to start early next year . The proposed data center will be used to power OpenAI’s “Stargate” project for artificial intelligence development.
