Silversea’s Silver Shadow recently completed 25 years of service for the brand, after being delivered on September 2, 2000.

Built at the T. Mariotti Shipyard in Genoa, Italy, the 382-guest ship debuted as the third vessel in the company’s fleet.

Following the Silver Cloud and the Silver Wind, the Shadow was also the largest ship in Silversea’s fleet at the time.

The 25,000-ton vessel was christened at a ceremony held at the Italian port of Civitavecchia on September 14, 2000.

Janet Burke, formerly Silversea’s senior vice president of marketing and sales, served as the ship’s godmother.

Diagnosed with cancer before stepping down from her position at the company, Burke led a donation effort that raised more than $70,000 for cancer research while leading the Janet Burke/Silversea Endowme
