More Edmontonians are jumping onto the Valley Line Southeast LRT since it opened in November 2023, but ridership is well below what governments were projecting more than a decade ago.

In the first 10 months of 2025, ridership on that leg of the Valley Line grew 14 per cent compared with the same period in 2024, according to numbers provided by the City of Edmonton.

In 2024, the city counted over 2.28 million rides on the Valley Line Southeast LRT between January and October, while during the same time frame this year it counted 2.61 million rides.

In the train’s first official month running the 13-kilometre trip between downtown and Mill Woods, the city documented 146,800 rides.
