Global agricultural products giant Nutrien has picked Longview as the ideal site for its next mineral fertilizer export terminal, officials at the company said.
Now that the roughly $29 billion company has selected the Port of Longview’s newly redeveloped Berth 4, the project is moving into engineering, planning and permitting to see if the location will ultimately work.
Holly Kral is leading the $500 million-to-$1 billion effort for the company. She said the project aims to make a final decision about whether to build at the Port of Longview’s Columbia River-front site by 2027.
The Berth 4 site was home to Continental Grain from 1927 until 1989, when the facility shut down. The loss took an economic toll and left the facility abandoned until 2023, when the port had it torn down — cap
