Raja Warring warns Centre: 131st amendment move to detach Chandigarh from Punjab will be strongly resisted

Chandigarh, November 22, 2025: Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Friday expressed serious concern over the proposed 131st Constitutional Amendment, which, he said, seeks to separate Chandigarh from Punjab. Calling the proposal “deeply worrying,” Warring urged the Government of India to issue an immediate clarification, noting that the development has triggered widespread anxiety across the state.
Warring cautioned that any such move would have “serious repercussions” in Punjab, terming it an “ill-advised misadventure” that could destabilise the region.
