KARWAR: A five-year-old boy died after drowning in the swimming pool of a homestay at Jali in Bhatkal taluk on Friday. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Mustaqim Sheikh, son of Maulvi Shahidullah.

The incident occurred when the child slipped and fell into the small pool while playing near it. The family had rented a homestay in Jali and the child was playing with his family when the accident happened.

A case has been registered at the Bhatkala police station and further investigation is under way.
