PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters were called to a home on W. Wyoming Street, between Oregon and Ligonier, Saturday morning for a fire that sent one person to the hospital.
Fire Battalion Chief Josh Martin said when they arrived just after 7:30 a.m., crews found fire and smoke coming from the front of the 1.5-story home.
The fire was out within five minutes. A search determined no one was inside.
Arson investigators determined the cause of the fire was accidental due to a candle left unattended.
Damage is estimated at $10,000.
Martin said a resident was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center by AMT after suffering from smoke inhalation. The individual was reported to be in stable condition.
No firefighter injuries were reported at the scene.
