TUSCARAWAS TWP. − A kitchen fire in a home on Barrs Road SW early the afternoon of Nov. 21 led to a firefighter being injured and the home's occupant being displaced.
The firefighter missed a front step while exiting the home and fractured his ankle, said Brewster Assistant Fire Chief Jeremy Henry. The firefighter was taken to Aultman Hospital where got a cast for his foot.
Someone reported the blaze at around 1:33 p.m.
About 25 firefighters from multiple departments responded to find flames and smoke coming from the kitchen at 13433 Barrs Road SW. The occupant was standing in his front yard when firefighters arrived. He was not hurt.
