Mangaluru: Widespread heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed various parts of Dakshina Kannada district on Saturday night.

Around 10 pm, several areas in Mangaluru city experienced strong winds followed by intense rainfall, thunder and lightning. While intermittent showers have continued in different parts of the district, the city had seen a brief dry spell over the past few days.

Lightning strikes caused power disruptions in a few localities, resulting in inconvenience to residents.
