MILTON — Jeffery Louis’ first save opportunity of the match didn’t come until 61 minutes in, and he knew exactly what to do in order to keep a lead for Boston International.
As Guilherme Cardoso drew a penalty kick, the crowd and sidelines were tense — Louis didn’t blink twice. As Cardoso let his shot go, Louis made a diving save to the right, punching the ball away as the Lions regained not only possession but all the momentum. His first save of the game proved to be the largest save of his career, as No. 1 Boston International defeated No. 2 Hopedale 2-0 in the MIAA Division V championship to capture the first soccer title in program history on Saturday at Curry College.
