Monroe completed a dominant run last week to a second Section V football Class B Championship in three years.

The Red Jackets now turn their full attention to a run toward a state title Nov. 22, when the team from the Rochester City School District faces Lackawanna in a state tournament quarterfinal.

Lackawanna is the Section VI, or Buffalo, region champion. Monroe advanced to the 2023 state semifinals. Last season, the Red Jackets were moved to Class A by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association and then back to Class B for the winter and spring seasons. The Monroe football team lost in the Section V Class A tournament semifinals.
