Farrell stopped short of using the referee Matthew Carley as an excuse for Ireland conceding 18 penalties and being issued with five cards, four yellow and one red, but it was clear that he was very frustrated that Springboks out-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu did not at least see yellow for a reckless no-arms tackle on Tommy O’Brien in the first-half.
