FLINT, MI - An early-morning fire completely destroyed a former Flint funeral home.
Crews were called to 2210 Martin Luther King Ave. in Flint around 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, said Battalion Chief Nick Reitano with the Flint Fire Department.
When crews arrived, there was fire throughout the building, which was previously home to the Swanson Funeral Home, Reitano said.
It was too dangerous for crews to enter due to the state of the building, he said.
The building was a total loss, Reitano said.
“It’s just a pile of rubble now,” he said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear, although a fire inspector is expected to investigate Monday.
The same building caught fire in April 2024, but was only damaged at the time. It had already been vacant for several years.
