The Michigan high school girls volleyball season came to an official end on Saturday with the MHSAA holding its four state championship games at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek. The third of four state finals in Division 2 featured the defending state champions from Detroit Country Day doing battle from Flat Rock, who was making their first-ever state finals appearance.
In the state semifinals a day prior, Country Day survived a marathon vs Grand Rapids Christian, while Flat Rock dispatched Fremont in four sets.
After needing five sets to win its semifinal match, the top-ranked Yellowjackets from Country Day needed only the minimum three to down the No. 10-ranked Rams from Flat Rock (25-18, 25-19, 25-12) and successfully repeat as D2 state cham
