ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Hosea Helps in Atlanta hosted its first of two Thanksgiving food giveaways Saturday afternoon.

“The best thing is to come and see,” President of Hosea Helps Elisabeth Omilami said. “Because you could imagine what it’s like, but when you see these fancy cars in line and you see people willing to wait for hours, then you understand the gravity.”

Less than a week before Thanksgiving, Hosea Helps’ 80 volunteers packed up 150 Thanksgiving food boxes, complete with a turkey.

Atlanta Braves outfielder Michael Harris II was on hand, helping to hand out the boxes.

“There’s no better way to do it, to give back for the holidays and it’s pretty evident that there’s a lot of people in need,” Harris said.
