A man has died after a violent, possibly targeted incident in Brampton on Saturday afternoon.

Peel police responded to a call that a man had been “shot or stabbed” just after 3 p.m. in the Clearjoy Street and South Lake Boulevard area, west of Highway 410 and south of Bovaird Drive East, officers said on X .

Peel paramedics confirmed that the man was pronounced man dead at the scene.

Police told the Star that the nature of the man’s injury made it difficult to immediately discern if it was a gunshot or stab wound.

The incident is not believed to be random and police said they believe the suspect may have known the victim.

The suspect is currently at large. There is a heavy police presence in the area as officers investigate.
